I only advise on
hotels I have slept
in myself.
Every property I recommend is one I have personally stayed in and assessed against the alternatives available in that destination. I pay close attention to the details no review ever captures. 84 countries. 215 hotels. Every recommendation first hand.
Advice earned through
experience, not research
The travel industry is full of opinions formed from press trips, commission incentives, and reviews of uncertain provenance. My recommendations work differently.
Personal reconnaissance
I stay in properties before recommending them. There are no exceptions. I pay attention to the details no review captures: service quality at midnight, how the room actually feels, what breakfast is genuinely like.
Comparative judgement
Where a destination offers several serious options, I stay in more than one. My recommendation is comparative. I can tell you not just that a hotel is good, but why it suits you better than the one across the bay.
Honest disclosure
If a destination has only one credible property — such as the Galápagos — I say so plainly. I will not invent a comparison where none exists.
Professional access
Operating under TPI Travel Services with IATA accreditation, I maintain relationships across 84 countries. This translates directly into preferred rates, upgrades, and amenities unavailable through booking platforms.
